I could see that. The problem is that I build sites to flip. Not for a long term profit

Thanks for the feedback guys. I was really tempted for the .info because the prices are so cheap and I could probably build 5-7 for the price of a .com. In the end if there are no takers then there really is not point in building something

Well thats a great thing. I think Google does have a sandbox effect on .info domains because they are hugely used by spammers to build a scam site. If the .info is combined with any of the sex, poker, make money online and related niches I think without any doubt you will be sandboxed for good.

I always try and buy .com's. .net is the next best.

I get the point. almost everyone here favoring .com's. Are you saying from the perspective of a buyer or from the viewpoint of SEO?

yeah. it's true but my guess is that you get a lower click through than most of your .com competitors. I could be wrong though. I personally can;t think of one .info website of the top of my head whereas I know hundreds of .com/net/orgs. And i think its true that they are sometimes associated with spammy sites so google might not give them respect yet. If people start putting good sites on that tld then it will change very quickly.

I guess if your site isn't commercial than a .info would be better but I would personally steer clear of them.

silicuda, congrats on the good rankings though... shows that it can be done and you will certainly save money buying the domains.

I was reading that getting the .info extension when the .com is already taken could cause legal problems later on. That right there steers me away from choosing .info over .com.

If you are talking about flipping based on traffic and revenue, most buyers I know don't care if it's a .info com cc ws whatever

As long as guaranteed steady income is a given they'll cough up the dough.
    be KING
But if you just want to develop and flip very fast based on keyword valueb and site content then .com will forever

I'd buy a site that was a .info if it was already generating income but if I was buying a domain name to build a site around, I'd go .com every time.

I sell only developed sites not domains. So selling domain only is out of my question

If it is an aged domain with decent PR, the extension is irrelevant in my opinion.

Thanks for the heads up. I am planning to get some 5-10 .info's and start building niche sites. This is my first experiment with them
