As per the title, has anyone switched domain names and retained their ranking on Google? Example: - Currently ranking #4 on Google.com for "keyword" (http://www.example.com) - Will switching to a new domain example2.com retain the Google.com #4 ranking? Theoretically if there's a 301 redirect from the old domain to the new domain, all the backlinks should hold their value and maintain a close ranking of some sort? I'm aware there might be other factors like age of domain etc, but if we're looking purely from a backlink perspective, it should hold true right? Anyone ever put this to a test? Thanks
This effect is not instant.. Example 2.com is most likely to retain as much reputation as Example.com in very less time but it is not so fast and also not guaranteed.
