Darren Rowse points to an a site http://www.tips.com.my/Article/The-Benefits-of-Getting-a-Wedding-Planner/28659 that place videos from youtube next to adsense ads. see attached screenshot taken from problogger.net Would you consider this a clever placement ?
Yeah, I think that will definitely increase CTR. While the video is loading, the user will probably have no where else to go and look at the ads.
From my own point of view, when I visit a site that shows videos, I expect the page that the video is on to be totally crap and stuffed with ads, so I ignore that page completely (apart from the video). I don't have any experience with it though, definatly worth a shot i guess
if simple images already help then video might do the same, i wonder if people will be able to make the ads match the video content
The easiest is to try. skandalouz, the people who click Adsense are rather unexperienced surfers who are too lazy to use the back button. These people were probably not specifically looking for a video. So, I'd expect the video to increase the click rate. I am anxious to make a try
I dont think it will help in any way. Unless the ads are optimized to the content in the video.that is if the video is about catherine zeta jones, the i would prefer the ads that are related to it. otherwise it wudnt make any difference.see for instance - youtube's CTR rates, they are not comparable to that of a blog. people do not visit blogs to see videos but they visit youtube to see them. so the user experience is different and thus the behaviour too wil be different. but i will wait for the statistics to roll out first.
I would imagine it would bring interest to the ad...although I would probably wait until the video had loaded, and then exit the page.
I sincerely believe I was the first to implement the video/adsense side-by-side tactic and perfect it...see the first link in my sig....I get good ctr but I need more traffic to really know how good....my kind of topic needs thousands of visitors a day to pull in $100 a day...
