Will Transfering from Blogger to Wordpress have Bad Effect?

I have a PR 5 Blogger.com blog. But for security reasons (afraid that my blog will just vanish, as many people say can be possible with free blog flatform such as blogger), I would like to transfer to selfhosted Wordpress. But I would like to know if the SEO of my blog will be affected by the transfer. For example, will the PR 5 of my blog not be affected. Also, my blog already have some traffic going regularly to it, hence some modest adsense earnings. I am afraid that I might lose this traffic and earnings if I make major change such as a transfer. PLease advise. Thanks...

If it's a new domain name, assuming you had a .blogspot domain before, yes your pr will be effected, but you can point your old blog to your new blog by using bloggers own domain set up. I did that with 3 of my blogs and it updated my rank the next time Google updated. I have heard of people having it updated sooner though, but I'm sure that's just up to google.

i agree somewhere with this quote. But about pagerank updation after redirection i wud say your new site wud update on next PR update, there is no chance to get update earlier than PR update. About traffic and SERP's i wud say they both drop to some extent for sometime but with the time and continue work it wud get normal. But it wud take sometime.

And if you have security reasons so it is better to move on self hosted domain but you have to bear some loss in ranking, SERP's and Adsense eranings for some time. But after sometime it wud get normal...................

    :)

You need to do something special to pass over all value, this is due to blogger not allowing you to access the .htaccess file.

    1. Use self-hosted on blogger, this is where it uploads the blogger files to your website.
    2. Create a sub-domain on your hosting account and point blogger to upload there.
    3. Use .htaccess to 301 redirect the sub-domain urls to the wordpress urls in your root domain

Simple and most effective way to make sure it's done properly and passes over all the value in due time.
