Will too much direct traffic get my adsense banned?

My blog went from averaging 100 to 200 hits per day to over 3000 hits yesterday. Google analytics is showing that about 2,200 are direct traffic. I do not know where this traffic came from only that it is originating from the USA. Will this get me banned?

Not unless the traffic is fake, but from what you've said it seems fine.

OP, I thought this was the thread to discuss Google the company, but anyways (maybe mods can help?)

Your other sources, they seem to have Javascript enabled since they count in GA. Which makes me think you enrolled in PTC or some clicking network. If so, Google might not like the source of your clicks and derank your property - they use actively data from GA, especially the bounce rate, volumes and traffic sources to model their results.

My advice to you - if you can afford it, both as skill and resources - is to drop GA as soon as possible from any website you are actively promoting. Use a free Analytics product like Piwik to do the same thing.
This is extremely important if you have AdSense on your pages - this information can impact your revenue once Google has proof some of your clicks have 0 conversion value. Good luck there!

I am a newbie I wouldn't even know how to get a PTC setup going on my blog. I've since deleted the GA script and will look into implementing the other free analytic products you mentioned. Thanks for the tips.
