Will this work?

First of all, I admit that I am a complete newbie as far as Link developement and Pagerank are concerned.I was just curious about fooling Google in the following way:

Google updates PR on toolbar every 3 months.I have heard that they will penalize you for selling links on your website. So, if I sell links only for 2 months and remove them 1 month before the toolbar PR update, will I bypass the Google punishment?

e.g. Recent PR update took place on 31st October 2009.So if I sell links till 31st December and remove them for 1 month (1st Jan 2010 - 31st Jan 2010), will Google punish me?

Toolbar PR updates and Google site crawls/updates are not the same.

It's only on the toolbar that google page rank changes after few months. google updates the page rank of your site almost daily. I wouldn't take such risk.

You'll get caught in the end. You gotta be really good to get away w/ it - and even then - Google will eventually catch you.

    Don't do it.
