Most people are now talking about the US facing a recession... If there was a recession how do you think it would play out on the internet? Would we be losing advertising dollars or are we safe?
Yes. If that happens, thousands of online business will go off. Most of the publishers will have revenue losses.
Yes !! US economy controlling the world somehow and if the US economy is slowing down, online marketer and bloggers will suffers as more and more publisher getting paid in USD
Why? Is the US the only country on the net & the rest of the world don't use or sell stuff on the net?
No Us is not the only country but a mojor part of online business comes from US and as such it will have a deep and long term effect on sales and overall revenues.
Thats why I asked the question in the first place... I know that the internet is heavily influenced by the US, but if people from other countries are doing well & spending online theres a chance we might be safe from job losses & economic problems (those of us who make a living online, that is). I'm just wondering how much it relies on the US economy
I think the online economy will suffer a lot. I know that I've already noticed it due to the low dollar. When I sell a logo or layout, the money I make from it is very little after converting it to Euro's. Same goes for the money I earn using Adsense.. Unless euro's become the main currency online I think a lot of non-US webmasters will be affected.
The recession in US economy has a definite bearing on the internet business. Stocks of the trusted software companies had a heavy beating along with other major stocks in India which is considered as the major destination for software outsourcing from the US. United States serves as a central power house for the world business activity and when something goes wrong with the US, it acts as a chain reaction and engulf the entire global economy.
The online community will somewhat be affected because there will be less budget for advertisement by companies that will have an impact on our earnings.
but it would open a whole new market of products to promote like how to get discounts on this and that and all that kind of stuff. just being optimistic.
Yeah, I think as things slow down there will also be a slowdown on the internet, at least to the degree that Americans feel strapped for cash. How much liquidity is and will be effected globally by the US's credit/liquidity problems, and how much people abroad feel strapped for cash as a result of our slow down, I don't know.
