In time do you think a name your trying to buy is already taken? Or will one day have every domain taken? Only thing would left something like asasvgsjffg.com
Names that I'm trying to buy are already gone. I want to buy names like Poker.com, Casino.com & Sex.com as well as 1, 2, & 3 character .com, but someone has already taken them There's not gonna be a day where every domain is taken. You can have domains up to 26 characters long, there are 26 letters in the alphabet, 10 numbers, a hyphen, also not to mention IDNs as well. Then you have many ccTLDs to invest in, with new ccTLDs coming out every few months.
Newer extensions will come up everyday. Plus, it will take a while- There are plenty of combos that one can dig up with 26 letters and nine numbers.
There will always be options but they may not be what you want. Many short names are already gone and it is very hard to find a good short name. I do believe that more and more extensions will be added to increase what is available. There is always a fix to any problem, it is not much different than the problems that the phone companies faced with phone numbers.
Domains will never run out, new ccTLDs come out all the time. What will run out tho is IPs as there's only so many different ones in BW and now with cell phones ect using their own freq's IPs are getting scarce.
It's impossible for the domains to run out, but I predict all sorts of new rules and regulations that will limit who can trade them. Ok, I hope this doesn't happen! And if it does, I must be among those granted the domaineering license. Also, the search engines and browsers will adopt new techniques of redirecting traffic to preselected websites without the need for entering the tld's, thus killing the parking business. godaddy will then change the name to yomamma and auction off all the .infos at $1 per 1000 domains There will also be fires and floods everywhere!
Domains aren't gonna run out. The scary possibility is that there will be so many rules and regs that the little man will have no chance to profit.
I think there is a limit of 64 letters or something like that, with such a combination, the permutations are countless.
