I don't agree. I think people will always love the big-screen, easy to access material that desktops and laptops provide.

I think smartphones won`t replace desktops and laptops completely. But they will certainly reduce the usage of it. One would check his mails, check dp pms and all in his smartphone. But he will have to use PCs from time to time...

small screen size will always remain the main problem while using mobile smartphones. Though maybe they'll make them expanded.

I dunno, smartphones sure are convenient on the go, but when I'm not on the go I prefer a big giant wide screen instead of one 2 or 3 inches wide XD I think that won't change in 5 or 50 years. 2 inch screens will still be 2 inch screens XD

Now, the size of desktop MACHINES may decrease over time.

did the wrist watch replace the wall clock? no...

can you play games or watch porn on a phone?no...just based on this alone the phone will never replace the PC :)
can you work on a phone? no...type? not really...
    big 24inch 3d screen? no...

phones will just supplement PCs but replace them they will not...just like the laptop did not wipe out the desktop PC or the ipad is just another toy...

we will have more and more toys this is the only thing that will happen for sure...

Neither the smartphone or any mobile device for that matter replace the desktop PC or laptop in 5 years. I will say this tho', the smartphone and mbile devices in 5 years will be very powerful.

A PC will always be more powerful than a smartphone, so I think as the tech curve continues to increase, in 5-10 years desktop computers and laptops will be monsters, even compared to phones of that time. Not to mention, photographers, architects, engineers, and all kinds of other professions will still rely on a powerful computer with a large, clear display to perform their work on.
