I've heard a couple of people say that "Bill Maher is a comedian, so it's different !!"... I decided to save my brain cells and end the discussion.

 

Its clear that the GOP commentators here are simply members of the Extremist party that have over the last several months launched a many sided attack on women in general, and particularly less well off women.

Common sense Republicans have found it appalling. Businesses across the US are fleeing the Rush Limbaugh show as main stream common sense Americans found Rush Limbaugh's attack on a regular person grotesque. The extremists are only upping the ante with their absurd allegations actually supporting Rush Limbaugh's crazed sex fantasies.

Keep it up, extremists. It's the kind of thing that Americans find appalling.

 

As far as I can tell, the biggest difference between Rush and Maher is that Rush has apologized while Maher refuses to.

Also, anyone who has ever listened to Rush knows this type of hyperbole is commonplace. These types of exaggerations are red meat for his regular listeners. It is not at all unlike Rachel Maddow's commentary on MSNBC, where she regularly calls people extremists, racists, homophobes, and misogynists if she doesn't like their politics. This is how propaganda is peddled. This is how the base gets fired up. You see Earlpearl borrowing these terms on this very forum.

I find it curious that the course war of dialogue from left and right wing commentators occurs on a daily basis without consequence, yet suddenly this one event qualifies for all this coverage, and a call from the president. It makes me wonder how Ms. Fluke got invited to speak in front of congress in the first place. Its not like your average college student gets that kind of invitation. Who is busily shopping her around to all these left wing news television appearances? The answer is pretty obvious.

Putting it in terms of trolling and forum abuse, one might consider the Sandra Fluke, ABC, CBS, NBC,MSNBC, and HLN to be dup accounts for the Obama admin. It is an amazingly powerful way to control the political conversation, and it is something Obama does VERY well. Has anyone noticed how Obama tries to upstage EVERY major political event in the Republican Primary?

 

Earl, do you know anyone posting personally or are you just throwing around the "GOP commentators" and "Extremists" comments because YOU THINK those are things that will get people "upset" or "angry".. Keep trying...

We can all sit here and pick apart people on both the right AND LEFT that have led horrific lives, so there is no reason to sit here and act like the right doing it is the cause.

 

I don't even agree with Sandra Fluke, and yet, I find it appalling. Mainly, my disagreement with her is that forcing a religious institution to provide birth control is a violation of freedom of religion. Yet, all this seems like a circus. Degrading a woman, calling her "slut" and "prostitute" for just having different political views. It's a shame.

 

To me, it's far more appalling that the left has zero accountability for the things they say.... . . . . And even more appalling that when you question it or talk about it, it's shaken off.

Take the indignant outrage about Limbaughs words, couple it with the contention that greater and more numerous slurs by Maher and others against women on the right can be dismissed as "comedy"... add the fact that Obama has no problem taking campaign contributions generated by such "comedy"... and the result is the obvious fact that the left is shovelling manure in vast quantity.

This sideshow has successfully sidetracked discussion of the Obama administrations attack on religious freedoms with which he is constitutionally prohibited with interfering, but thats how politicians work. Even his own VP told Obama making a headon run against the Catholic Church would be disastrous... but Biden underestimated the potential of a Wag the Dog fix.

Its a shame Obama cant put his sleight of hand magic to work on making the deficit disappear instead of the parts of the constitution he doesnt like. Congrats to the left for following his debate shift command in true Pavlovian fashion. Somebody oughta be along to give them a Scoobie snack any minute.

So now the Obama Whitehouse has adopted the official position that there is, in the words of Mr. Burton, "No comparison" between the words of Limbaugh and the words of Maher. I mean, I guess one could make that argument. Limbaugh didn't use the words cunt, or a twat like Maher did.Limbaugh did appologize, unlike Maher did.

This, with Ms. Allred, is just insane. If she does "win", many women could come out with charges that their chastity has been questioned. Rather than have a civil discussion about whether government can force religious institutions to provide birth control, possibly violating the First Amendment, Limbaugh has initiated a major distraction.

 

Hey, if violating Rush's first amendment rights to free speech allows Obama to violate the church's first amendment rights to freedom of religion, isn't that a win-win for team Obama? Isn't that why Liberal and Liberty share the same root word?
