    Hi, all,

Applied a amazon Associate ID but didnot begin to promote it yet.

I am now promoting another affiliate program, all the returned customers are still mine. Actually I am now live on my returned customers.

    My question is:

Will amazon bind the customers to my associate account? If the customers order from amazon two years later ( donot go through my website ), will I still get the refer fee ?

    Thanks for your reply!

Referrer only counted when buyer buy items from your referrer that contain your associate id.

I believe the cookie lasts for 1 day but if the customer adds the product to your shopping cart say via aStore it last 90 days...

If you offer something else to your viewers that makes them return to your site, that 1 dayer cookie could bring results ;)

Well, I don't know what programs you are using that still give you referral commission after two years (I would think they are quite rare!), but remember, retailers like Amazon and eBay have other advantages, like a lot of trust with customers. So you can sell a lot of stuff because people come to your site and go "Oh yeah, Amazon, didn't think to check there". Also, eBay have the ACRU system which can pay $30 or more for a new customer referral, which might be more than you would earn in commissions, even after 2 years!

It's all swings and roundabouts, there are people out there making good money off all these programs, I wouldn't dismiss them just because of a short referral period.

You can post in forums and talk about amazon products and link with your refer, people may buy something while there.
But you will get banned by the forum for spamming and using referer links.

dont do it in this forum.

He shouldn't be doing this anywhere. He can get banned by Amazon for spamming his links everywhere.

Well, that's all irrelevant anyway, because the OP's question had nothing whatsoever to do with how to promote Amazon. But it's always good to get that post-count up...

If he was making £5000 a week for amazon by "spamming" as you put it, I dont know they would stop his account
