    200 isn't really too many. :D.

IMO, directory links are not of much use...unless they are from the top level directories.

You wont get penalized, but at the same time they also won't bring much benefit.

You will end up with 200 links with same anchor and surrounding text..from sites that have duplicate content and full of outgoing links...I don't think such links can be of much help (at least not in Google).

Also you should know that not all submited links will be accepted and even if accepted it will never be same day or week. Also Google or other SE will not index it in same time. Some links will be seen after few days, other after weeks and some will never be seen...

The only possible penalty could be that if G sees 200 new inbound links in a day on a new domain. Your site could be in sandbox then.

Personally, when a domain is new and has low PR, I like the shotgun approach. It's cheap, hits all over the place, and is likely to get your PR off of the ground.

If you can't get your submitter to rotate submissions, you can fire more than one shotgun blast (at different directory submission lists) with different titles and descriptions.

The penalty from Google would be getting sandboxed, but if you're in for the long run this really shouldn't matter as should be temporary.

It could be a good long term strategy.
From 200 submissions around 150 will be accepted, then in 2 years time you will have around 10 links from good directories the rest will have been closed or loosed the cache.

Ya, If you submit to 200 websites -

    - Not all will be approved in a single day
    - Not all will be indexed by google on single day..

    Hello...

Websites and blogs are different then directories and can be easily damaged if you submit to to many to fast...

200... should be good till you get some PR or backlinks update, then you can get a little more agreessive AFTER the UPDATE and do 450 or 500
and so forth till after the 1st year.

    thx

If he submitted your site to 200 free directories, then not all of them will be approved .
    So don't worry about it

Submit to 200 dir is not too much. You can submit site to as many directories but the benefit is only when you submit to quality directories.

I don't think so. Any search engine algorithm can calculate it first.
