Will submitting to high PR directories bring up your PR?

I was thinking about hiring a company to submit my website to some high PR directories. Will this bring up my PR or is it a waste of money?

 

It will definitely help you.. once the link page crawled by Googlebot, you will get a increase in number of backlinks.
But, its a time consuming process.

 

I agree that is usually the first step I take on a new site. Not the best SEO but definately an important step IMO

It's quite easy to do this yourself, by typing in `list of high page rank link directories' in your search bar. I just did this and found a list. Make sure the list is up to date though, some of the directories on the list that I found didn't have any page rank, must have lost it in the recent update.

 

Yes it will help. It will increase your PR but may or may not increase your SERPs.

I don't think so. First, you can't find most of your links from directories in google webmasters tools and also Yahoo even though your website's link has been accepted since a long time ago. Second, your website is not listed in those directories' home page but only in a specific webpage (for example, website about fitness, then your website is listed in category fitness). I think most of those specific webpages have almost no PR at all. But if your website is get listed in the home page of that directory, it would be considered as paid links because Google is hitting on many paid directories these days. I think directories are still good but obviously it's not too important.

 

This is interesting. I just come up a question. How will google look at Yahoo Directory. It is absolutely a paid one.
