will submitting my site to directories hurt me in google ?

    i heard that google started to dislike directories. so will it hurt my site's rankings, if i submit them to directories...
    or will it aid my rankings ???

    No not really. I've just heard that google doesn't like paid links on your site...

    No links from directories don;t hurt Your site... IMO links from dirs have low power :(

    Agree with the other posts - links from directories wont hurt YOUR site - but may be less useful than in the past.

    Also - you need a naturally varied link profile built up over time

    i thought google might have considered directories as some kind of link farms.so they are going to hurt the sites listed in it.

    Some of them probably YES and Try build Your backlinks not only DIR links try get QuALITY links from sites with relevant content to Yours :)

    I totally agree with stickyLink.

    Sure add your site to directories that you think will bring you traffic i.e. industry specific directories, as these will bring traffic and help to build a topical inbound linking profile, but as far as anything else goes I wouldn't spend my time bothering. You could even end up blurring the perceived focus of your site if you are to trigger happy.

    Concentrate on topical inbound linking, good original content and individual title tags.

    so directory submission wont hurt my site,but on the contrary it wont help much unless its a very good one.

    Submitting your site to directories was one of the best natural link exchange method.
    Now after google started penalizing directories.... i don't think we will be wasting time on directories now.
