Hi, Will removing the site from Google Webmaster search console damage SERPs? Or the search console is a report center only, removing the site will not hurt the SERP? Thanks a lot
Why would you remove your website from google search console? I think that the preferred domain, international targeting and other settings will be memorized by google after your remove your site, maybe the unnatural links too
It won't damage it unless Google have a process that looks at the sites that gets removed and tries to determine the motivation. Given that, once setup, you don't actually have to do anything what is the problem of leaving it there?
google knows your site regardless of signup up to Webmaster tools or not... WMT is for your benefit of seeing data that google already knows....
I do not think I have ever seen any complaints, omg, I lost all my rankings, and all I did was remove my site from webmaster tools, have you? I have never seen any evidence or proof that rankings are based on WMT.... have you? this is how bad seo rumors get started....
@Harshal shah seemed so certain I was curious to know if s/he had run any experiments. I certainly haven't done any - but I've never even considered that there might be a reason to remove your site from WMT
@sarahk There is nothing to experiment as this is just a tool! and as you are saying there is no reason to remove it from webmasters
The OP wants to know if there might be a problem if a site is removed. You've said no, and I reckon you should clarify how you've come to that conclusion.
