*Example* Would targeting "Food Recipes Online" (the made up name of a site) in alt tags, anchor text, h1 tags, ecetera, would this also target "Food Recipes" as the main keyword as well?
so my anchor text *must* be "food recipes" if I absolutely want to target those two words because anchor text of "food recipes online" will not target just "food recipes", just to clarify
what percentage is good if i only want to go for the two word keyword? i read 100% of your anchor tags while building links and google sees you as spam, is this true? thanks for your help
targetting the long tail does help in ranking for the short one. I think of it as not being sandboxed. But yes, you do need to target both for optimal results.
i think you should target both keywords IMO, who knows what results you will get from the keywords, it's always good to use a list of about 20 keywords. You should always check the traffic for the keywords using google adwords targeting worldwide visits, at least you have stats for 2 days, that is the min you should do to decide which keyword you will target. If you have stats of a keyword you know, you can use Google trends to know the ratio other keyword is researched, targeting last 30 days only since old stats doesn't matter.
