Ok, i have a question. I was advertising on myspace in myprofile, i had a image hyperlink for ppl the click on. The actual image file is located on my server. Ok, heres the problem, ive gotten over 10,000 hits from this image, but barely any of them are registering the IP of the ppl who click it, so its coming back as like 5,000 unknown / unresolved IP addy's. anyone know the cause of this? Also, I wanted to know does the image hyperlink affect my link exchange efforts? Should I just use regular text hyperlinks with anchor tags? thanks for your help
From what I've found the alt text can act as anchor text for an image link so they can be almost as useful, if not equally as useful as text links.
If you can add a text link below the image it would help. If not be sure to use alt text as mentioned, it is indexed. Not sure of the weight given, but like everything else, don't over do it. A text or image link does not make a difference in the PageRank transferred.
my host is ipowerweb and its using awstats. I contacted them about the problem and all they could tell me was to run awstats on my end seperately. i googled something about unresolved ip's and it said that there is a value or setting in awstats that you can change to help or correct the problem of unkown ips. but i honestly dont know if this is my problem or not. i am getting thousands of hits to this image on my server, but its not registering them as unique visitors, or even visitors period. anyone know whats up with this? im thinking about changing hosts, could that be it? thanks
