if my blog barely recieves visitors, will it shut down and collaspe if suddenly being flooded? if a blog is used to a small but steady stream of visitors, does that make it less likely to happen? how do i prevent it from happening? how likely is it? what do i do if it shuts down? it's hosted by blooger.

This is why it's recommended to enabling caching, even if your blog is small. If a sudden rush of visitors hits your site, they're all served from cache, instead of invoking PHP, and possibly causing your server to overload.

Are you using shared hosting or do you have a dedicated server?

If you experience an increase in traffic then more than likely you will be contacted by your hosting account provider to switch over to private hosting.
