Will more Unique Visitors inprove my SERPs?

I've read on DP that an increase in UV's will increase your psotion in SERPs, is this true and can anyone share their experiences?

ya, i bought traffic and get more than 1000 UV a day, at that time my Search engine rank was good, after my site traffic goes down 50uv/ day my ranking too goes down

 

This is the first time I am hearing this as a lot of affiliate only sites get loads of unique visitors each day but I don't think that would increase their search engine rankings. I might be wrong but can someone clarify this?
