Will marketing a flsh game help my website?

    Hi,

I have recently bought a quiz game (Flash) for my site. The quiz is very specific to the site and has scuba diving trivia questions. The questions were custom written.

I checked and there are not too many other scuba diving quiz games out there.

Can I use this to my advantage? Does it make sense to submit the link to generic flash game directories? Or will that just bring a lot of people that waste my bandwidth?

Does anybody have a list of directories that would be suitable for a flash game? Or should I use a service? Which one?

I am a bit confused here. People usually advertise so they get more visitors but you say more visitors only waste your bandwidth.
So what is the purpose of your advertise? If you are not attracting viewers then what are you trying to attract?

oops, sorry you are right I have to rephrase that.

Since there are no scuba diving specific Flash Game directories or sites - will advertising/linking from generic game sites help me drive scuba divers to my site and increase my pagerank

    OR

will I get a lot of people that just want to play games (and waste my bandwidth), but have no interest in scuba diving.

    ?

The best option is that you put "Scuba" in anchor text so not only potential viewers realize what they would be seeing but also search engines list your site for Scuba rather than general gaming.

It does make sense to promote this game, through flash game directories and in other ways (forums, stumble etc.). You should certainly make the most of this.

From my experience, you will get a bunch of people who just want to play games...but in your case I think it would be different (since it's a very specific game). You could try an ad like "Scuba divers click here" Just a thought...
