I highly doubt live will beat google.

Are you talking searches per day? Visits?

I think if Google doesn't begin to return results that are less spammy with adsense and .gov and .edu sites, MSN and Yahoo both will catch up. Probably they will never pass up Google but more and more users are switching to MSN as the results in the top are more targeted for what the public wants which is generally NOT .gov and.edu sites.

My grandma know what Google is, so probobly none will beat it in the next 5 years at least.
And then i hope Wikipedia is going to give them a lot of problems :)

There may be a chance, given how much of the environment they can leverage. They have to be very innovative though for the user experience to pull this off....

No i do not believe that live will beat google, google has a regular layout that is very plain and people who wants a website that has less ads on the search field, then google will always dominate.

If they get their algo right, anything is possible.
They have the microsoft advantage... IE8 won't even be able to access Google ;)
And their domain is two characters shorter :D

I highly doubt it. Mostly everyone knows what Google is, and even non-techie people around here say google it or check on google rather than search anymore.

As long as Google doesn't try to maximise its profits with dubious techniques they will be the search engine no. 1.

But if some shareholders get greedy Google will lose its good image and ...
