Will layout change of website hurt ranking?

    Hi all,

One of my websites is about to get a "face-lift", if you will. Nothing is really going to change except for the color scheme, maybe one or two things getting re-arranged, and I might expand a little on some of the interior pages.

My question is: Will these changes have any impact on the indexing and ranking of this site when the changes take place? Meaning, will the changing of the pages bring the site lower because it will be, in a way, a new page?

Just because it's changing, no, that's not enough to get it ranked lower (in fact, it might actually boost the rankings - google loves new content and a new design can be confused for new content).

As for things like color changes, that shouldn't affect the rankings, but do take some care when moving things around as they may have an effect (although whether positive or negative, I can't say), although if they're minor changes the effects will also probably be minor.
