Will it harm our site? To have a link to adsense banned site

    Hi all DP friends,

I have a doubt. Here in DP we have the Link Exchange program, suppose we are exchanging links with many (some 100) sites and after some time (weeks or so) some 40 sites may get banned. Still the mutual link exists between banned sites and mine. Is there any problem to mine? Will google bann mine too for having links to their websites?

Please post your answers here. I will give one positive rep for every good answer

I don't think so, millions of websites already linking each others and I have never seen a case like this before .
that means no, it doesn't hurt .

No, even though they are banned they still have a chance to get out there. So the more links they get the more positive "votes" they get to get out of the ban.

    Thank You

What do you mean by that? Are you opposing ?

I am having the same question. Do you people think the banned site can be come clean that's why if a site has a link of it not a problem with Google Adsense?

I am confused. I wish someone will give some more reference and support about it.

If you are talking about adsense account banned, no doesn't matter.
If you are talking about complete site banned, Yes, you get hurt.
Google clearly says Don't link to bad neighbourhood.
As far as I know one needs to submit a reinclusion request to get the banned removed.

Linking to 40 banned sites is surely a negative sign for your site...
    Bye :)

I totally agree. I don't think an adsense ban automatically means the site is also 'bad neighborhood' for the google-search engine, but it is certainly not a good sign. If you've got 40 such links, the chances that 20 of them are also bad neighborhood for the search engine are major IMO.

They are banned and we linking to them, that mean we only have outgoing links and no incoming links.
    That's not good.

No it does not. They are banned from adsense, not automatically also from the google-index. Those are two different things. If a site gets banned from adsense it is probably doing things that are also likely to get it banned from the google-index, but I don't think they are related one on one.

Getting banned from adsense could happen because:
    1 they break the law
    2 they had click fraud
    3 .. can't think of anything else..

Anyhow, of those two reasons (there are probably more) 1 is likely to also get a website banned from the google-index at some point. 2 is totally irrelevant to the google-search-index. Just because a website has been associated with click-fraud doesn't mean their content is useless. The fact that they are involved in that does suggest the site is perhaps made for adsense (MFA), and so more likely to not have a good google-rating and be indexed, but it is not automatic.
