What's your preference, inductive or deductive reasoning?

If you prefer inductive reasoning, just take a look at the Global Incident Map.

Note the small number of terrorist incidents perpetrated by Mennonites.

If you prefer deductive reasoning, you have only to turn to the Qua'ran:

Fight those who believe not in God nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by God and His Apostle, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, even if they are of the People of the Book , until they pay the jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.

    ...

If they refuse to accept Islam, demand from them the jizya. If they agree to pay, accept it from them and hold off your hands. If they refuse to pay the tax, seek Allah’s help and fight them.

I like your version of Islam. It's nice, but it's not very true to the teachings of Muhammad. The people who are true to the teachings of Muhammad are the boys of Al Qaeda. They read and study Islam more than any person on this forum -- even more than Gtech (pbuh)!

A nice watered down, civilized, Westernized, modernized Islam would present no danger to anyone -- but you have to accept that it only represents a subset of what constitutes original Islam.

Two days of looting, murder and rape followed the fall of Constantinople.

"The Army converged upon the Augusteum, the vast square that fronted the great church of Hagia Sophia whose bronze gates were barred by a huge throng of civilians inside the building, hoping for divine protection at this late hour. After the doors were breached, the troops separated the congregation according to what price they might bring on the slave markets. A few of the elderly and some infants were summarily slain with a commercial ruthlessness. Soldiers fought over the possession of richly clad senators or for the comely youth or maiden."

From reading this thread, I would have to deduct that if it wasn't for religion, we wouldn't have most of our problems.............

This may be true. I could argue either way.

But, it is inarguably true that not all religions are equally troublesome.

How many people have been murdered by marauding bands of Amish terrorists? :D

If it weren't for oppressive totalitarian governments we wouldn't have most of our problems in the world.

The problem with Islam is that an oppressive totalitarian government is exactly what the Koran prescribes.

Speaking of Amish terrorists, just the other day I was nearly run over by a speeding buggy. I was terrorized I tell you. Terrorized!

Most ridiculous thing ever. I don't believe you can say such a thing, when you live in a country which invaded Iraq and Afganisthan. So who are trying to take over the world ? USA or Islamic countries?

In the last few years the "War on terror" is evolved to "War on islam". And the word "terrorists" evovled to "muslims". I can't believe this, muslims in the west lives in fear. We have seen attacks on muslims etc. recently. Like the attack on Turkish houses in Germany. If we don't stop this, we will have a Holocoaust against muslims soon.

I mean, just take a second and think about it. All the muslims civilians who die in war just because of USA and its desperate hunt for OIL and POWER. Were those civilian muslims who died in Iraq and Afganisthan really terrorists ? Would they harm anyone ?

The only threat here is our prejudice. We believe in what the media says. We believe in what our country tells us, without knowing that maybe the country is the rat in this world.

Let's see how long it the west can hold up their power. As we all know every civilisation will fall one day. And this will also happen to USA and Europe. Maybe China will be the next superior power. Let's wait and see..

It's kind of funny whar you are saying. It seems like every day I hear about muslim riots, terrorist cells in Europe, and muslim terrorist attacks. There have been recent riots in France(2007), Netherlands (2007) and now Denmark (Feb 2008)

Muslims are trying to get in Europe not leave. Doesn't sound like they are very sacred.

I am not someone who automatically equate terrorists with a religion.

IMHO the invasion of Afghanistan was due to Taliban supporting the 911 incident which took thousands of innocent lives. Though I feel the invasion of Iraq was a mistake.

War on Terror is still on terror, just that a lot of the terrorists happened to be Muslims, it is definitely not War on Islam, whereby Islam is one of the largest religion in the world, a few bad hats does not equate Islam with Terror.

Muslims live in fear sometimes of white supremists or Nazis trying to attack them. This is something similar to what I had mention earlier. There are few Muslims which are terrorists similarly there are few white supremist or nazis which attacked Muslims.

Some media is prejudiced no doubt on that, but IMHO mainstream Islamic leaders shouldn't they be out to correct such prejudices? I did not hear of any Islamic leaders condemning the rioting due to cartoons or condemning those who wanted to kill the cartoonists.

USA will still be a Super power, but the future will be multi polar, this is something I am looking forward to too. There is a need for a balance of powers.

The Denmark issue is very funny, when danish demonstrants burned and destroyed a whole district in Copenhagen. Then they still got what they wanted. And muslims, yeah. Then the media is like: Go to hell..

In Islam, the entire world is divided into only two pieces: Dar al Islam and Dar al Harb.

Dar al Islam is "The House of Islam" -- this is the part of the world which has already been conquered.

Dar al Harb is "The House of War" -- this is the part of the world which is yet to be conquered.

There is no concept in Islam is "The House of People We Don't Want to Conquer."

Is it really that bad? Can I trouble you to share with us the source for this information if possible? This is quite a disturbing division.
