Hello! I have a website of mine that had about 10 pages that were very long (ie: the content was so long you had to scroll down to see it all). I recently altered the format so that they were much shorter, and many more pages. For example, I took one page on a given topic and broke it into 4 subtopics and have a page for each. So naturally my page impressions are going up, since readers are now viewing 4 pages instead of 1. Is this a bad idea, from an Adsense perspective? My thinking was: 1) cleaner to read for the readers, 2) easier for me to maintain (can make content changes to specific sections without having to consider the whole page), and 3) Adsense would get more exposure. But I'm wondering if that doesn't hurt my potential earnings by lowering my epc somehow. My second question is: Somewhere on these boards I read something about deleting pages that aren't getting any impressions, or are getting impressions and no clicks, etc., to improve your overall earnings. I didn't fully understand why, and I can't find the threads that talked about it. Thanks!
Increasing page will definately get you more impressions and may be clicks. But decreasing page would not gain your anything, until they are violating TOS
I think you did the right thing. If you have made it easier for your visitors to understand your content, that is great. Now SEO each page for specific keywords and your traffic should increase which can lead to greater adsense revenue. Better website, more pages to attract a visitor's attention and more revenue. Good work!
Increasing number of pages will increase your earnings because you will be able to display more ads on those additional pages.
Others ahve already said it and I agree. More pages are better as long as they are all unique and informative. As for your second question I see no need, or advantage in deleting any of your pages. In fact, if those pages are indexed it will just lead to more 404 errors.
