Hi All, OK... this is a stupid question. But i have to ask.. Will there be signifcant traffic changes after the PR update? I was wondering this because... although some of my pages are currently PR 0 ( not updated yet)... yet they continue to be searched from search engines. I was wondering if the PR update is just an indication of what is already the traffic condition, then any PR indication from an update will just be a dissapointment for those of us who expected surges in traffic after the update. regards
Google updates the PR of a site/page a few times a week. If you're talking about the Google Toolbar Update, no it won't have any effect, outside of maybe more webmasters willing to trade links with you.
The toolbar update effects nothing but the toolbar. If a high PR page links to you - you will see g and y spiders hammering your site within a day - you should see more traffic shortly after if it helps your site get indexed more thoroughly and your on site optimization is reasonable.
From experience, a change in PR rating does not affect you very much, other than making it more desirable for other webmasters who want to exchange links with you. If you are looking at traffic, perhaps getting your site DIGGed and seeing how many times it has been so might be a better indicator of traffic- or look at ALEXA.
The toolbar PR export will not effect your rankings. The tbpr is a snapshot of your pr taken a few weeks beforehand and any ranking benefit has already been taken into consideration. However after a pr update you may see a ranking shift. Google engineers like to perform general housekeeping after a pr export which may effect your rankings and pr exports are sometimes accompanied with data pushes or algo changes. This was the case with the Jagger 1-2-3 algo change.
I doubt an increase in PR will help in your traffic. It's just a rank, and basically means nothing if you don't have contents that people want.
yes you will see an increase in traffic. As your PR goes up so does the placement in the serp. Its dependant on what your site is about though, a site about how to cook monkey butts using coconut oil instead of sesame seed oil wont go up. So you have to have a site based on popular things that people would do a search on for it to go up. but those results will happen without the toolbar update, since google is updating all the time.
There should be no difference. But with higher PR, it will be easier for you to exchange links, hence increasing your traffic from the new inlinks.
I've been noticing that in several of the threads recently. Everyone's an "expert." Maybe its a misinformation campaign
