I started a blog about two months ago and I've already started ranking pretty high for some good keywords in Google. However, I'm in the process of overhauling my theme/layout/design, and the articles will probably end up being moved to a different sub url. For example, instead of seo/top-rank.com it might be seo/keywords/top-rank.com Will this cause me to be dropped from my rankings? Will the search engines think that the article is new, and therefore duplicate content? I know scrapers have already started grabbing my content, so I would hate for Google to think that they own the article. Can someone set the facts straight? Thanks a lot.
it will start from beginning but dont worry because the sites will be index as fast and it will gain the ranking soon
1. When changing URLs if you 301 redirect the old URL to the new you won't lose any SERPs or Pagerank, however it takes a minor amount of time for it all to transfer over to the new URL. This is a must if your changing your URL structure. 2. Theme\Design\Layout changes can sometimes have an effect on your rankings. Using a GoogleBot Spoofer to view your site with both setups can help see if any differences occur. Sometimes the change can be beneficial if a better internal link structure exists with the theme\design\layout.
