    Hi,

My site is around 2 months old or so, have a pagerank of 2, created a lot of links and still working on it, however i have 568 wc3 errors, Yeah i know!!!

Created my site with Microsoft Publisher and it doesn't have the code that i can edit.

If i redesign the whole website with dreamwaver and put the same text, pics, etc, everything that's on the current site..will i lose the page rank?

The current website would be active, until i upload the dreamwaver files. I also think those mark up errors are keeping me stuck on Google-2nd page. If you view source on it it's very bad. I had no clue until i started reading more about html code, things that are missing like the doc type etc..

    website is http://www.plumber-cary.com

    thanks everyone

Dreamweaver can only improve that site which Google will much appreciate but, in the big picture, I'm not sure how much it will affect your ranking.

I think republishing with not changing original URL will not harm as such.

No you definitely won't lose your page rank if you update the site. Improving the code should help your rankings as well.

Remove the errors will help you more and part of the PR comes from the backlinks you have.

I agree. Fixe the errors, improve the site, keep the same URL/Domain and you should be fine. If anything, it should help your rankings in the long term.

PR is depend on the dofollow backlink. If your backlink are not removed, your PR will not being affected. However, your serp will drop and your Alexa ranking will increase too

Thank everyone for the answers. I can't edit the code in Microsoft Publisher, "What you see is what you get " is in there.

The only option I have is to copy and paste all the content to dreamwaver and work on the code in there. I made a big mistake by starting in Publisher int he first palce, oh well..

Why would i drop in SERPS? Beacuse the page structure would not be the same? Google won't treatthem the same?

    example now: http://www.plumber-cary.com/index_files/cary_plumbing_services.htm

    dreamwaver would be: http://plumber-cary.com/services.htm

I think either way I am in deep.....

If it stays like this it wont do me any good with 568 errors and if i fix it i will lose serps. So i guess i have t look at the long run here and switch to dreamwaver

Your domain's PR won't be affected by this, or at least not in a negative way as long as the backlinks leading to it stay.
If you change the URLs of the inner pages, which obviously will be done, make sure to 301 redirect the old URLs to the new ones if they have some deep links coming in.

BTW, I have few sites with some, though not that many errors, which I made first - with SEO in mind, but without any coding knowledge, and still exactly these first sites of mine keep feeding me.
I know it is not good, but the results say other! A couple of these are in the 1st few positions for quite competitive keywords :)

Still suggest you to clear the code of the errors - it seems like a small site, so it wont be such a problem :)
    Good luck!

568 error need to update your website .
1 - No issue for the PR as we know it comes from the backlinks

Well... just do one thing make a demo project for your website on dreamweaver. Do all CSS and HTMl copy past as it is in your older one. like have "contact us" page and name has contactus.html .. den make d same demo page in dreanweaver and copy past d same than improve your CSS and HTML as per need. :)

It may happen. Your site is still a new one, it is not that stable to gain the PR and AR, actually, you don't worry about that, you can do improve your site again after republish it within a quarter.

    Hi everyone,

I am back. So i did it in dreamwaver, i was so scared cause i didn't know anything about dreamwaver, took me a week to let myself around it freely. So this are the news.

W3C validator- errors went down from 567 to 20 errors, wohoo

I did 301 directs from my old files to the new ones..

My site was bouncing the whole 2 days from 2nd page to bottom of the first , to not being there at all. That was yesterday. Finally it stopped on the 2nd page-on the same spot it was before. But it hasn't been indexed by Google yet. PR still stayed at 2 althout it hasn't been indexed yet.

Can you re-check the new site and give me any recomendations?

    http://www.plumber-cary.com

    I added Hcard and geo-tagging!

Anthing you guys recommend? Be gentle-this is the first time i did dreamwaver

btw-i still have tons of stuff i have to do , like-linking the pics to the blog, re-doing the banner, adding more text

I see no reason why that would happen. As long as the links are still there and all the on page SEO factors are there, PR should not be affected.

keep doing linkbuilding/off page seo, because the site structure has changed, it might take a while for google to properly crawl your site, submit a sitemap too.

    thanks everyone,

    i will follow your advice..

btw- i have no clue how to create robots file..i am researching it now

    got it..is it this?

Assuming you want your entire site indexed and only want to stop the unnecessary 404 errors from occurring you have a couple of options.

Upload a blank robots.txt file to the root directory of your domain
