I have a website idea which is similiar to a auction site like eBay, trademe.co.nz etc.

With the domain name i want it to be (secretword as I don't want my domain pinched) ******me.co.nz, would there be copyright issues against trademe.co.nz with this?

You can't use a similar trademark in your domain name - especially if your site is going to be in a similar business. Adding words to the TM or using a different tld doesn't get around trademark infringement. Pefumebay.com lost their case with ebay and they weren't even an auction site. Not only could they take the domain, they could also sue you for damages and attorney fees. Without knowing the exact name (which you shouldn't post) there is no way to give a good guess.
