Will I get my PR6 back

Discussion in 'Google' started by tnk, Jan 11, 2009.

A few months back, I was penalized by google and my PR dropped from PR6 to PR4. I know I was penalized because this happened after the Google PR Update.

I have strong backlinks and was PR6 for more than a year. I was expecting my PR to increase mainly because I was getting more quality one way links.

So my question is has anyone seen the PR increase after penalization or this is it for my site ?

Should I invest anytime or money in building my PR again ?

Not sure about your site, But I will share you my experience.

One of my site was having fake PR before 2 years. But on first update I lost fake PR4 and also indexing (got penalized). But after hard work of 3 months, I received PR 5 in next update too.

So without wasting time, just concentrate and enjoy the PR..

just keep continue your link building efforts, but to be totally safe i would invest any, or just a small bit into linkbuilding.

i wish you all the best to retain your PR6

PR is not important unless link building, if your web isa already PR 4, dont waste too masny time in PR, as you say you have many one way backlink, your web PR can reback to 6 again under next PR update.

I advise you check your link exchange, maybe someone delete your links.

    Who cares about the PR,

    Did your traffic also suffer?

If you're losing PR means you're also losing valuable backlinks, so you need to care of it too!

Have you checked what OP said?

Loosing PR does not always mean loosing your backlinks -- especially these days. If Google gets sniff of any wrongdoing -- it will penalize and downgrade PR.

@OP - I have seen only one instance of PR improving. Searchenginejournal was downgraded to PR4 when Google first cracked down. But later on it was back to PR7 again. But I suspect there was an understanding between Matt Cutts and Loren Baker. One thing is sure - all hand edition.

Not is in case of SEROUNDTABLE - it has almost same kind of backlink profile like SEJ - but it is still PR4 - down from PR7:(

I think, You should links exchange with your competitors sites, it will definitely increase your pr and ranking as well

If the sites linking to you dropped in PR themselves then you'll have had a natural drop.

I personally wouldn't worry about it, unless your SERPs and Google traffic have fallen/

Loosing some rank or little position on SERP is natural and its based on the competitors and niche.. And also once Google penalized, the site will be moved from SE and will not get any place and also no PR. So the problems is based on the promotion, do more promotion and retain the rank and SERP

The pr of many sites will fluctuate from one pr update to another so I am unsure
whether or not your site was penalized, all you can do is continue to build backlinks.

If you were selling links, you might want to correct that and write to Google.

I think its good to continue the link building effort. But don't spent much money for that atleast till the next PR Updation.

Going to PR4 is not the end of the world, if you work at it you should be able to get back to PR5 pretty easily. PR6 seems harder to get to these days so don't be too disappointed if you don't get back up the whole way :)

I'll bet it will be harder, if the content remains the same.

Maybe not harder, but greater chance of someone taking your place.

Seems that the more website there are on the internet, the lower value a website is worth, unless it does some to increase content or popularity.

Exactly, maybe some links lost PR, but I can't be repeated often enough: PR means nothing, abosultely nothing for ranking. It's a side effect and a PR6 site with just one PR7 link can easily be outranked by a PR0.
