I had to change my whole website from a .html extension to a .cfm extension (thankfully it was a relatively new site so there wasnt much external links pointing to the pages). But, i was getting a lot of SERP traffic from Google. So i went to all the html pages and redirected the visitors to the new .cfm pages. I included a *.html in the robot.txt so the next time Google Crawls my site it will ignore all the .html pages and just crawl the .cfm pages with hopes that it will place the new pages in the same ranking as the old pages or better. (BTW the new CFM pages have IDENTICAL content; slightly different layout). Did I do this in the right way, or will i get screwed??
