I recently bought a domain name: a mistypo of google. www.gogglesearch-engine.com it was only meant to get traffic for all the searches that google gets when ppl mistype it as "goggle". I did a keyword analysis and found it a good bet. I have applied for google adsense for this one (I am a part of YPN they pay more). I applied three-four days back and no reply from them yet. Is there a problem in the domain name or As one of my freinds had said will I be nailed down for using "goggle" and then using ADSENSE on it? Does anyone know about any such rules?
This is probably the funniest post this month. Please dont tell me your serious. Your stealing someone's trademark and trying to make money from it with the same company that you robbed of their trademark. What in the world are you thinking?
No the funniest post every month is "I've been banned for no reason". I went to his site and he does have some content and a decent design, I might let him in if I was the one making at the company with the misspelled name. Remember Google is a misspelling.
My first page makes it clear to the visitor that he has mistyped the word. So I am not deceiving them or anybody. If anyone really thinks I have gone against any TOS or of any rule plz help me with this one.
It has nothing to do with TOS. You are violating a trademark and trying to make a profit out of it, which means you registered your domain in bad faith.
Dude, they aren't just NOT going to approve you, but get ready to get a letter from them demanding you hand the domain over or they'll see you in court.
They will be able to force the OP to take down all google code and references, but there may be some wiggle room for keeping his domain name because "Goggle" is an actual word and he can always claim that's what he meant and he wanted a search engine where people could search for goggles. of course, in the OP's case he clearly wasn't thinking about underwater eye protection, but I think he should be protected from having the domain taken away purely on the fact that some domain names may unintentionally allude to trademarks but actually have a more generic meaning and use all their own. You got to give some leeway for cases like that, imo, otherwise companies will just push people around.
max pain, All the posts here are speculation, please let us know how things turn out. I used to own MacromediaColdFusion.com and Macromedia (now Adobe) never bother me about it. I wouldn't be surprised if things went your way.
Thanks mike and tbarr Nice to hear something positive. I will surely keep you updated about the progress with this new venture
I have been approved by google I got a mail from adsense saying my account for that particular website is approved and that there was no violation. Thanks for all your views.
A goggle search site. Hunt for goggles. Oh, google is not a mispelled word. The word itself is somewhere around 70 years old. First used in a comic strip, I believe in either the 20's or 30's. Believe it was Pogo (we have met the enemy and the enemy is us).
Thanks Anthony I will surely do that. I have to yet put a lot of info on the website. I will submit it for review on DP as I did for lanceboard.com . DP has always provided me with some useful insights in design/layout for my recent websites.
