The democracts are trying to to push healthcare through before the new year.

Will voters be weary about healthcare come the 2010 elections.

Will the elections be influenced by healthcare our will voters not weight that heavy either way whether healthcare is positive or negative?

    Depends on two things.
    1) If the bill is still being debated when campaigning begins in earnest, absolutely.
    2) If the Jobs numbers are still sour, absolutely.

If jobs are better, and this thing gets put away (one way or another) soon, voters tend to have a short attention span. Just need to focus them on something else, like Afghanistan, or the environment. Look! Shiney!

obama said in his campaign that jobs would take three years to come back including 2009.

Will jobs drown out healthcare by november 2010

Jobs will take about 3 years to come back, I agree... That's about the same amount of time this shitbag has left.

~ The elderly have a disproportionate turnout for off year elections and definitely have a vested interest for the subject of health-care. The politicians had better keep them in mind for the outcome.

~ Along with gov't takeover and abortion it is hard not to see parts of the legislation affecting at least some of the congressional races and just how they will fall is hard to predict....Political junkies are going to have a field day.

pushing healtcare through before the end of the year would give time for the elderly to get used to the reforms by november 2010 and get the baby boomers on board before they retire

Used to what reforms? You do realize that the taxes on every taxpayer, cuts on Medicade and Mediacare starts NOW and the benefits do not start for FOUR (4) years!!!

Yeah... I know its 2074 pages now, but thats only twice what HR3200 was. I wonder how many people actually read these bills. Hell, I wonder if any of our Senators have actually read it?

Taxes are difficult, there needs to be something to offset that.

Offset what? Leave it the fuck alone.

I pay around $2700/year in health coverage OUT OF POCKET as a small business owner for me and my family.

What this plan is going to do is levy a payroll tax on every working man and women whether they have their own health care or not. Most of them do. That total is $1250.00 per worker. On top of that the employers contribution equals that bringing that total to $2500 per head.

So in other words, as a business owner I get to pay my $2700/yr health care bill and another $2500 so someone else can have theirs for free?

How the fuck is that fixing anything? Plain and simple, this whole health care thing is not about fixing anything. Its about power, control, and creating another stream of revenue for the federal government to bleed out of those of us that earn it.

Good cause? What good cause? What on earth are you talking about? We are going to be taxed for 4 years before this thing ever even starts. Its not going to benefit anyone.

HUGH? That's not how it works... The tax is for everyone that works. The benefits (if they ever come) which do not start until 2014 are for less than 2 million people. There are over 300 million in the US and almost all of them have health care.

I don't think health care reform will be nearly as big of a factor as the economy/jobs. I did hear some positive news this morning that some economists are now expecting jobless rates to start moving in the right direction within six months, that may be in time to positively effect the 2010 elections for the Democratic party.

But I do think that if the Democrats fail to get health care reform passed that it will hurt the enthusiasm of their supporters, and that's really got to be their big concern politically. The Republican base is going to be energized regardless, that's clear. If the Democrats want to energize their base then they need to get health care reform passed and prove that they are able to bring about the changes that they were elected to bring in the first place!

Well no... Clearly it's going to take more than 2 years to reverse the horrible mess that the Bush/Cheney admin left us with but the general populace has a pretty short memory and I don't think we can necessarily count on people thinking rationally when they're voting.

In my opinion it's absolutely insane to give the Republicans control of the government again after what they did to this country.

Healthcare is coming round the corner just as the elections will be ramping up. Tea Party activists will be pushing this issue, as well as the candidates. Yeah, IMO, this will effect the 2010 election.
