    People are afraid of Google, that it will "rule the internet" and "conquer the Earth" :D, but actually WE THE PEOPLE make these companies so big. If we don't use Google for search, if we don't use Adwords to advertise, if we don't use Adsense to make money, if we don't use Gmail to send/recieve emails than Google can't rule the internet. It's that simple.
