Will Google rule the internet?

Will one day google be a synonym for the internet?

 

They will rule the online platforms, just like microsoft dominate software.

The war for the internet is still ongoing and won't be over for a while

 

I don't think so. Most users use google just for normal search... Not to many people look at google the same way we would...

 

I think that it's impossible for one site to be a synonym for the internet, even if it's Google, cause every day new projects are made.

 

Google is buying and creating every high priority site, like youtube and blogger,i don't think it's impossible

 

Google Rules the internet. Out of google, out of business.

 

I believe it now only rules..they have the most popular sites on internet..the purchase any website they like..they are extending the services from search engine to almost everything...i believe it can do it

I hope not. But then again, it's those of us who do well on msn that laugh on the way to the bank. Higher conversion with lover bandwidth costs. Got to love traffic that's not a waste of time, full of scammer and spammers.

 

Yeah I think google is well on its way to being the icon of the Internet. With over 50% of the search market, and 80% of all purchases originating from a SE, Google's advertising will dwarf those of other sources.

 

Of course they will own the internet if they aren't already. The only way to slow the whole "Google owns" mentallity is to stop using some if not all their products. But to many people gravitate to them regardles of Google's business mentalality whether its good or bad.

 

I think it already does...I mean look how hard webmasters work to be in google's good books.

 

Every day google takes another step to rule the internet... At least most of google's services are free, could be bad if we had another microsoft that wants to charge hundreds of dollars for every service/product used.

 

I don't know how long they will rule the internet. But it certainly seems as though they will.

97% of the search engine market
90% of the video market (youtube + google video)
70% of the blogs market
70% of the maps software market
15% of the news market

With plans for their own wikipedia, ebay, digg, tomtom and other major markets. Yes Google is going to dominate information, and the people behind Google? Who are the major shareholders?

 

With 80% market share in most countries, don't they already?

 

How meny times have you heard people say, google this or google that.
You dont hear them say Yahoo this or Yahoo that.
Google is now a word in the English Language, Enough said.
They are Kings of the internet.

 

Whaddaya mean "Will" they? They don't already?

 

Some things about Google really scare me. And I ask myself who are the real powerful people behind it.

For example. Google has had an Office in Iran for over 5 years. They do business in Iran and support censorship. Even though it is illegal for an American company to have an Office in Iran or do business in Iran.
What are some other companies powerful enough to be above US law and have offices in Iran, despite US sactions.

Like Apple, that is part of their marketing. Specially in there first few years, people where saying google and showing Google in most TV shows, Movies and news. Don't forget that all 3 point are corporate controled. It's part of advertorials and shareholder intrest. That is one of the reasons you see Apple in most movies and every time they have a new product it is heavly promoted on the news.
