How long do you think Google will be around for? do you believe this company has risen so far to the top that no one can out do it? just curious as to what Google will be like in 5, 10, maybe 15 years. there might even be a greater website than Google. thoughts? concerns?.

My thoughts are that they will probably stay #1 for a long time but there will always be new start-ups and all it really takes is for people to like it and to have somthing that google doesn't offer to start taking people away from google.

I definitely understand. In a class yesterday we discussed alternate possibilities to Google, and we could not come up with anything but a more efficient form of Google. Which is something Google has the power to do on its own.

You should be thinking about what Google will evolve into and not how long. Also Google is not just a search engine unless you're considering just the search engines dominance. It is responsible for many other technologies.

But in all honest nothing in this day of technology lasts forever, there is always something newer and bigger ready to take the #1 spot. but can you imagine something doing that to Google? just think about the transition of technology.

I think Google will be around for a long time to come. But I don't think they'll always remain number 1.

If no one will beat them at features, and many more, they will be staying for a long time in top 1.
Maybe they can be outranked if microsoft and yahoo + facebook + other great companies will make an alliance and create something new.

I think you can expect them to be huge for quite some time, but keep your eyes open for other search engines coming up as well. Even now, they can be good sources of traffic.

Everything is going more mobile, including search, I think Google faces some serious competition from Apple's Siri and similar technologies could potentially be a big problem. Google's core business model, profiting from Adwords ads shown alongside search results, doesn't translate really well to the future searching environment. But they will obviously try to adapt as best as they can.

Nothing Will Last Forever but that'll be the end of the internet perhaps only then can Google be beaten.
