Will Google really penalize for having phpLD installed?

I heard someone mention that you could get penalized for having phpLD installed on your site. Is there any truth to this?

What if I only use phpLD of a way of managing useful links and I am not linking to link farms or anything?

 

NO they won't, there are way too many good sites using PHPLD and G is not penalizing them.

all of them had been banned by google. because all of them have the same content so they are spam content.

You are not going to be penalized by Google for running a directory script, frankly if that was the case, there won't be hundreds directories being made every day and there wouldn't be millions of directories running at the moment.

Though getting ranking for a competitive search term using the directory would be quite tough if not nearly impossible, but there is no way you will be penalized for it.

 

Can You qualify/quantify your statement with any kind of evidence..even anecdotal evidence? There have been some directories penalized (for their actions) but I don't know of any that were outright banned especially for using a particular script.

I doubt the script has any bearing on anything.The same is true of blogs. Many of them received "penalties" so to suggest the script has anything to do with it would be like saying all Wordpress blogs were/will be penalized because they use a certain script. It's simply not true

A Script is a script...it's want you do with it that matters.

 

Google is changing all Link Directories to a PR 3-4. The concept we think is that the pages that the links are on will therefore be a PR 0 and no value.

 

I don't think they are penalizing a specific script. Lately they devalued directories in general so your site may have lost some ranks not because penalties but because the algorithms have been changed.

 

You should probably edit your template so it doesn't look like the other 1,000,000 sites running phpLD and you'll be fine.

 

As long as the content on your directory differs from the other million directory available online, you won't get penalized by Google.

 

Yeah, my site is very original, and only uses phpLD to manage my resource directory. The main part of my site is MySite.com/ and only a small portion is the MySite.com/Directory/

 

Google won't penalize only for using phpld. Unless your directory lists spam sites.
