Will Google PR Drop if I Switch to Wordpress?

I have PR4 on a site which is doesn't have much, or should I say any content at all, but I have installed Joomla on it.

Now I decided to install Wordpress and make something out of that site.

Will my PR drop if I do this? The backlinks which made my PR are to the root of my site, so it there should be no changes, or am I wrong?

If you are sure of this and searching does not prove you wrong, I think there should be no drop.

PR will drop anyway. Google doesn't like people having PR and selling links.

    What do you mean?

I didn't get the PR from buying links, I just did a favor for a friend of mine which he returned to me in a backlink.

I know paying for backlinks is wrong and I consider it foolish anyway.

I dont believe anything will really drop besides maybe your internal pages, (They might lose some internal links)

Your PageRank almost certainly won't drop, but your ranking will probably take a hit for a while until Google gets caught back up.

You should find a way to set 301 redirects from the old post URLs to the new URLs for each post, which will greatly eliminate any problems you might face.

Your PageRank is assigned to each individual pages in your site. That includes the domain as well. So if the URL format for the page does not change , you won't get any effect at all.

    Example:
    Before your page http://www.yourdomain.com/2008/03/hello_world.html
After migration to wordpress it has to follow the same format.

Maybe you should consider checking all your pages for its PR. Who knows you might have some other pages ranked as well. I should recommend you to use livepr.info or pagerank-monitor.com

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers,
    Azlan
