that depends. if you have a brand new site and all of a sudden you submit to 2000 directories then dont do anything for a month or two, that could be suspecious. but if you have an established site and already did some link building, then you should be ok. even then, i think 2000 directory is a bit too much in one shot. you can submit like 200-500 a month or so if possible

That all depends on your work. If you did it in a day and google caught you, then possible that they may ban your site.

Some directories may be very active, and search engine spiders pick up the link very fast. Some directories may be as dead as a cemetery, and the link may not be indexed.
I doubt you get 2000 backlinks from 2000 directories, so I dont see any problem with submitting to 2,000 directories

I don't think bulk submission will cause you penalized because not all the directories will approve your link simultaneously.

You can be banned if, you did it all in a day, because this doesn't look like manually submission. Now don't do it at least for a month and try for different SEO channels but again be frequent not bulky.

Even you submit to 2000 directories, most directories take a long time to get your site approved. Hence it shouldnt matter much. In any case, even if you build 2000 new links in a month, that shouldnt be cause of a penalty, because then, anybody can buy 2000 links for their competition to lower their ranking via a penalty.

It depends how frequently u have submitted 2000 direcotries. If you submit this bulk of directories within short period and if they get approved then there are chances that your site get penalised.

Just as there are 2.0 sites that get away with spamming keywords in the title, it is our experience that the more directories the better. Back links are not created equal. The trick is to mess it up. Articles, Blogs, Sites, Relevant Sites and so on. It is alaso a good idea to spin your titles and descriptions. Don't use the same over and over. The same foot print showing up for all your links is a reason to get concerned.

That's my 2 cents on this.

It depends on how many days you submitted the directories and in how many days it get approved.

If you submit to 2,000 directories in one day your website most probably will go to sandbox. If you do it naturally for certain time your website will safe. Basically don't do spam. Google hate spam like we do :D

My only advice is to submit it naturally and submit only to do-follow directories to get more points on google.

Not at all. But you need to do it manually and dont go for automated submission.

If you actaully get approved by tons of directories all within a few days, that could possible raise a red flag. I wouldn't recommend doing bulk submissions. Just pick out 100 really good niche directories with PR.

    Good luck.

Most of them won't approve your listing for weeks, even months, and most of the pages your link is on will not get indexed for an even longer period. More a waste of time and resources than a danger of getting a penalty.
