Just wondering I have a few blogs as subdomains of my ebook website. They are autoblogs so they will get some duplicate content. The duplicate content will basically be used as filler as I am also going to have unique content as well. I want to get some content on there! Will these blogs get penalized and being that they are subs of my main site will the main site get penalized as well? Should I use separate domains and point them back to my main domain with this strategy? Just for example purposes The main website is rapidbartender.com One of the blogs is rapidbartender.com/learntobartend Currently there is a blog but I have it down for maintenance. So should I leave it that way or get a seperate domain like learntobartend.com Which im assuming is already taken. Should I do this to make sure that my main ebook website does not get penalized. Thanks for any input.
It is unlikely that you will get penalized if you include enough unique content to go along with the duplicate stuff. If you are worried about penalties at all, it probably would be a good idea to put those blogs on their own domains. By doing that you would also benefit from more external links pointing to your main website.
Do not even bother blogging if you do not have enough unique material to keep it going. Use duplicate content as filler and your blog will not get anywhere. There is actually only one main SEO reason to add a blog to your site, namely the derived benefits from interacting with other bloggers (on their blogs).
