Will google penalise me if I link to an online gambling site?

Hi All

Out of the blue I have been approached by a company offering me an annual sum to place a text ad containing links to their internet gambling site on 3 internal pages of my site. My site is called Hollywood's Golden Age and is nothing to do with gambling.

My first instinct was to grab the money and place the ads but will I be risking the displeasure of Google by linking to a gambling site?

Google can penalise for selling links. I would stay out of this.

 

If you are selling the links for the gambling site and it looks as a link sale , that is if there is no necessary seem to have that link especially in three pages.... Then it is not advisible to grab the money for gambling links... If you don't care about google's interest over your site... Then sale some links....

 

weigh the pros and cons. if it is going to be laibility for your to have the gambling links then it is not worth it.

 

I heard that it will harm our website and therefore i try it on blogspot. And i found nothing lose, both PR and SERP still the same

It could be both Yes and No, depends on your website main topic, overall content theme and backlinks. Most of websites that have been penalized by Google are because they do linking out to gambling once while their website has nothing related to them, not a make sense anyway.

 

Google TOS state that site content must not contain gambling related information, but I'm not sure how they would stand on actual gambling links? Google are now getting more sophisticated in identifying paid links and there is also a facility in Google Webmaster Tools to report a site selling paid links. It's still difficult for google to clearly spot a paid link on a site but what they appear to do is to scan pages for known sites that pay for links. If your site is hosting these types of links then they may penalise you.

I like this answer.
It will be funny if your sites aren't related to gambling but then you link to them.
G will penalize the sites which are doing that, linking to gambling while it is not relevant.
It is occurred to if you are link to porn, while yours aren't relevant to porn

 

google is pretty strict with site indexing if content not relevant to links you are penalized be carefull and remmeber the chicken and golden egg story hehe

 

are you in the gambling field? If not, i would say big no.

You'll be penalized for selling links and linking to a niche which isn't liked by Google.

 

If they are paying well, and you think your sites position on google is worth it, then I'm for the selling.
