It basically has a monopoly on like every corner of the internet. Does anybody think that google will lose this position? If so, to whom?

They have earned that and if anyone wants to beat, then they must provide superior services than Google.

Apple has lost its monoply, Samsung has taken over it.

This time, there are no any name to compete with Google in Search Engine.
Yahoo and Microsoft shake hands to compete but din't get much success.

Sorry, I didn´t mean to sound racist on my last comment in this thread, I am not racist, just very angry that a monopoly company should be so greedy. Using us all to build their database and then dropping thousands of us without any warning. Lost my rankings, Adsense account and Adwords account in the last week. Got a family to feed and I hate seeing 7 years of damn hard work taken away when I have been fair to Google, always followed their rules and I once made amazing money with them. Google´s motto "Dont be Evil" is a joke beyond a joke! I have sent them faxes, emails and even tried to call them to ask why they are hammering me, no reply, no reply and no one to talk to, just automated processes ran by software and robots. The reason being, they want to save every last cent and get rich quicker. The way Google operate, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. SEO was once a big business, it aint no more, Google doesnt like any form of SEO. It is virtually impossible to start from scratch anymore, the big businesses can afford to pay Google Adwords stupid high keyword bidding system, increasing the price for smaller and starter businesses, making the competition too hard in what is supposed to be a free market.

Google is taking advantage of its power and monopoly very badly and i believe in next 5 years Microsoft will take over it.

I think other companies like Facebook and Bing are already taking some market share. Most likely there will be some decline at least in some areas.

We can not say that it is Google monopoly.
Google is doing more than enough to satisfy their customers and we have to compete. We can say that the recent changes of Google is not friendly and we need to work harder.

This is time for Google, but nothing can be said, what would happen in future, think of Yahoo, it was also like Google some years before.

Google will eventually be an all paid search engine if you want on the first page of the serps. Competing will require a big amount of money.

It will happen soon. Google lost 12% of the share rate comparing with the last year. That means instead of 90% of people searching with Google, now there are 78%. This is mainly due to their greediness (too many ads) and too many good adsense banned accounts (here it matters the country). The algorithms also influences this, but in my opinion it influences lower than the 2 mentioned above, because the searching got a bit cleaner and better, at least in the web design/ web development area.

Certainly in the medium term (5-10 years) Google will not lose it's grip of search. It's impossible to say over a timeframe longer than that- but it's a possibility, albeit somewhat unlikely.

This post has MANY factual errors, will dismantle them all a little later. Main one being that Banned Adsense Accounts has ZERO effect on Google's monopoly, period.

Google search algorithm is better than any search engine and this is the reason for Google to be on top.
We are facing much much problems in getting better ranks for our sites but think, Is there any search engine which give us Google like result.
