I dont think Google will die because of the US financial crisis. But its profit margin will definitely face a hit!
If at all Google dies it would be because of a new technology that makes users to search conveniently, exactly and far more better than the existing web search technology!

Though a recession means trouble for almost all companies, Google is likely to be affected the least. This is because, when sales dwindle, companies tend to advertise more in order to attract customers. IMO, advertising becomes a necessity during periods of recessions and who else could benefit more from this than Lord Google!

Google has a lot of cash on hand. I am a stock owner of Google so I always look at this stuff. Google does not borrow money to stay alive like many of these other companies. So no Google will not die, there stock may go down and profits if they US economy keeps going down but when it comes back up Google would have bought up many companies going out of business and bought more properties around the world etc and would actually become even more powerful.

I believe Google would survive a recession quite well.

They seem to have adapted well to changes in the net environment over the years and seem flexible enough to tweak their business model enough to overcome a recession.

I think if people reign in their spending that may mean spending more time at home and potentially more time on their computers as a result.

They will still survive no matter how albeit profit will be much lower. People still can't run away from continue searching the net and buying online. That will keep their business going.

So, maybe Yahoo would be the likely casualty of US economic collapse?

I think Google will be fine for the most part. There might be some problems with less people being able to afford advertising with Ad Words, but other than that I think Google will survive.

I doubt Google will be affected, even though they are a US-based company their economy and marketability is not. So at worst, only their US business will be affected in other parts of the world they remain strong.
