Will Google conquer the world?

Many people think that Google is an evil empire. Do you think so?
Well, they spread out each day all over the world. And their company grows really fast.
They develop new services, most of them are very useful for us. But at the same time Google limits our privacy. They can get information about anyone whos using their services.

    What's your opinion?

What gonna happen when Google will spread out all over the world and become a leading search engine in every country?

Google is the Skynet of the future!!

Nah but seriously yeah Google has a lot of data but what about Facebook or Twitter? These are even more personal and location related.

And I think Google will be very responsible with our data. They can't afford to loose, leak or misuse our data it will destroy their company.

Google are just a corporation trying to make money and grow their empire. You forget that for every one Google success their is a massive amount of failures. Just look at social...this is something Google cannot get right yet!! Also you better look at China before you go thinking they can be the leading search engine in every country? There is always someone better and better around the corner...who would have thought Twitter would be so big 12 months ago and Facebook the year before that??

No. Google will not conquer the world but they will be an important tool to those who will try.

I don't know about that. Nearly every nation has the manpower to invade Googles Headquarters and take over if they really needed to. ;)

Does not conquer. At some point, Google is too big and old, then comes a new challenger, and then Google is just an ordinary company, among others.

I think Google really wants to dominate the world wide web; they even make their own URL shortener (www.google.gl) to compete with bit.ly; the most widely used URL shortener.

Google will never be able to conquer the US nor the world for that matter, not as long as Microsoft has Bing and China with Baidu.

Google is a good company. It has developed the best SE in the world. Besides, it has many other good services, such google maps, google analytics, gmail, etc.

As for me I also think that Google is great, I love Google apps like Google Earth, it's really amazing and give people an opportunity to travel from their homes. I guess in future they will provide us with virtual travelling, not within google maps project. I've heard somewhere that Google and another company, don't remember the name, will create own internet soon. There will be no regular internet, but Googlenet, based on broadband connection, and every service there will be paid.
I guess the aim of Google is not only to be the #1 in the www, but they'd like to create own media empire including: internet television, radio, internet, cinema and so on. And if it will be interesting - ok, i don't mind. But if they change our minds on their good, this will be not that good as we think.

The fact is that we (usual people) see only what we have in present. Google sees us in next 50 years, that's why their services are so popular. They know what do we want. And it's realy simple to do if you have such information as Google has.

    Any thoughts about that?

P.S. It's not a crap thread, cuz as you've read in rules it's clearly said:

"Forum: Google THE search engine. This is FOR discussion about Google as a company, NOT for discussion of individual sites (SEO, PageRank for a site or "why a site ranks where it does" questions) or Google search results."
    So let's continue!

China is huge in population, but not in technologies. I guess United States will conquer China in few days if needed. When I asked if Google can conquer the world, I it meant not literally )))
