Will Google Be Replaced By Bing?

    You have to wonder ...
I was looking in my log files the other day and had flashbacks ... someone had found my one of my sites through Altavista. I had no idea they were still around. Regardless Google overtook them many years ago.

You have to wonder if Google will ever be replaced by Bing if they will be teaming with Yahoo..

No, I really doubt it, Google is just too well known as a household name. I mean take students: Don't know a question? Google it! When's the last time you heard "I don't know mate, Bing It!"?

If something can replace Google is Facebook but nothing else (if Facebook ever go to the search engine area)

They are just too large and have way too much to offer as a search engine when compaired to Bing. "Google It" has become a well known phrase and will not likely be replaced.

If you think that some hyped up search engine that's literally the same thing as Live search is going to dominate Google, you've got something wrong with you.

Google's focus on quality is what makes it kick arse, bing will never be as good.

i doubt bing will ever be top dog as long as google is around.

Looking at the data for Mountain View area at http://www.city-data.com/city/Mountain-View-California.html (about half way down the page)
and from the dates listed on that page, they are getting stronger and closer each time, and although i doubt a BIG (1906 type) quake would end google it could cause a sake up in more ways than one in the search market.

Not at this moment. But who knows what will happen in the future as I'm sure Microsoft will do anything to make their SE on top of the list.

One good thing about Google is, they're branding the same name since the beginning. While Microsoft keep changing their SE name from MSN Search, Windows Live Search, Live Search and now Bing.

I noticed that bing is hitting prime time TV more in our neck of the woods but yahoo was doing that a few years ago too with no noticeable change in search volume.

i don't know why people keep asking this question. i still can't find a difference between MSN search and bing. they're the exact same thing to me. all they did was change the name and do marketing. it's not a decision engine. it's a search engine. you still have to click links to get to pages. it's less relevant than google.

I do not think so. History has a point to remember - Only the greedy could be lost forever. Let's see the history in two phases.

    1. Altavista has been replaced by Yahoo because of a bad search results delivered. Altavista was a well known in that period of time, like Google today. However, even they were number one but the results were suck and never accurated. Altavista chose to ignore the people complaints by put more advertisings in search results listing and gain more revenue. Yahoo has come in place because of the much more "accurate" in search results. Yahoo got it by employed a thousands of human staff to add/edit/remove their search result for each keyword manually. They do this by pull data from their own directory called "Yahoo Directory". That is the way they can control the quality of result, but since this system use human done all things then it slow and take a lot of time to add sites. Only a few sites could be added daily.

    2. Yahoo has been replaced by Google because they were resist the changing. Google had a first successed launched by let Standford peoples try out their search engine for a period of time. The search results were accurated and yet they were fast compared to Yahoo. Google had used a called "Spider" to crawl and retrieved web data instead of use human handle all things liks Yahoo. That's why a new sites can take a few days to be included in Google database while it could take a week to months to be included in Yahoo database. Those peoples who was a first generation of Google user were impressed and they did spread words to their friends and so on. Here you will see the differentiate between them has a full started.

2.1 Google has been praised by people who used them while Yahoo has been praised because of advertising they bought.
2.2 Google is much faster because of the automate system they created while Yahoo is a much slower because of human system they were using. Yet they were also resisted to use the system like Google. Yahoo had to hold a huge salary costs while Google had nothing to pay such a high cost like Yahoo. Who could win in a long run? (Yahoo did cancel the use of human and use automate system since a long time ago until now)
2.3 Google has a white plain in their main page while Yahoo main page had a full of advertisings. Google is trying to give the best search experieces to user while Yahoo is trying to squeeze maximum money from their main page.
2.4 Google does always innovative. Did you remember when Gmail first launch with 1 GB storage while Yahoo gives only 5 MB?

I do not see how Bing could win over Google for now.

Everything can happen in this world. Google came out of nowhere earlier and become dominant due to it's good search engine algorithm. Now, if some search engines gives some better technology then Google will be lost in the crowd.

Remember Darwin's theory which states " Survival of the Fittest ".

It would be really hard for them to beat google, even together as google has developed its name & for me the best point is it loads much faster than the other 2, sometimes if I have to check if net is working or not I open google, if google opens then the net is working fine, so that kind of thing was not present in the other 2 engines & made google much more popular, plus the output you get from google is quite good...

Until they maintain their business policy, they won't be replaced. Not even by Facebook.
