If I made a website with jokes for example, and i want to use it for Italy, let's say www.jokes.it, and for internationala too, for ex. www.jokes.com, Google will ban or lowrank my websites if is the same site but just the language is changed? Thank you.
Hello, if you mean because of duplicate content filters, I would not worry, translated content into a different language is NOT a duplication.
10x for answers, i was worried about the same structure of the website, but now i'm thinking about how many CMS exist on the internet... Thanx again.
you could always 301 redirect the .it site to the .com and have a translation button having both a version in Italian and English and optimise for both from the one page.
Hi, You may find this useful. In this short video a google employee talks about their preferred way of geo-targeting: https://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=62399&ctx=tltp&hl=en
i want to be 2 separate websites. What if the domain is the same name? only the language is different but the liks on the page are in the same format. Will Google downrank or ban me?
You're on the right track, use seperate domains and translate the text. You won't be penalized for it. There has been a lot of research done on this and many large, international sites (e.g. ikea, bmw, etc.) use several languages on identical sites.
Google "Bans" by filtering. If you trip a duplicate content filter the results of what they believe is most relevant will be shown and the others ignored.
NO google won't ban ,if the language is same then you get a problem otherwise don't worry about that ..
Your are translating the content, it means there is no duplication then also if possible do some changes in heading.
