In general google will assign pagerank N/A for newly launched domain. One of my friend recently launched his site and its tool bar page rank show as zero. I'm bit confused. Is google changed its Page rank calculation? or my tool bar need to update. but i checked it over other online tools, it shows zero. Can any one tell me the real factor behind this?

No, in my case too, google gave me PR 0 from beginning of my website. It is not right that google does not give No PR for a new site

Its may be true because if the site is new then the site has not any back link and also traffic. Why google rank of that site? Can anyone tell me why?

Google will display your page rank as n/a if either the page is not indexed (this could be a sub-page), or if your "robots.txt" or by other means stopping the crawler getting on to this page, e.g. no other pages linking to it.

Of course Google is going to give a new website a PageRank of 0. It doesn't now anything about that website. The beginning of a website is one of the most crucial stages for Google to determine a PageRank for it over time.

I always trust SeoQuake for real PR

I have tried many other PR checking Firefox addons and most of them were quite disappointing

Most of the new sites show PR as N/A and after some time i have seen it changing to PR:0

in the beginning google give you n/a after few days/weeks then the pr could change to 0, if you want your site change to pr 0 fast, try build links from social bookmarking asap

Yes I think Google has changed some algo in their system with the pagerank. I bought a new domain around a month back and I did not do anything on it. Now the same domain has a PR0 and even has all the default 3 pages indexed in google.

Yes it happens sometime google assign pr 0 for newly launched website. Now you have to create backlinks for your website otherwise pr could be gone.

i cant understand why people go about spamming this forum with unnecessary threads every singly day. There is no chance that google shall assign anything other than pr 0 to a new site. otherwise whats the need for seo ?
