I just threw up a site to promote my writing skills and show a few samples. I only have two pages so far, but do you think I could apply for Adsense? I have a few other sites, but most of my good work is on subdomains. I applied a few months back and they said no because I had broken links from my main page. If I can get approved, I can place ads on any of my sites as long as they are compliant with the TOS, correct? The site in question is in my signature, and thanks in advance for taking it easy on me, I'm new to all of this.
I just looked at the site and I would not recommend applying for adsense at this time. Keep in mind that google loves tons of written content and while you site has some content on it.. there is not enough.. and there are barely any links to any info. The site needs to be fleshed out more with sections of content and more links. I would aim for at least 10 to 20 quality pages before applying to adsense. For example you could have a link bar at the top with sections, about, writing samples, services (details of services offered), specialization topics you can write about etc. and then a big page on why quality writing is so important for the web their sites etc. And since you are a writer this should be no problem right? Hope I am not too tough on you!
I completely disagree, you should have adsense up as soon as possible. I started getting clicks with only a couple of pages on. If you submit your links to a couple of directories then you should get traffic from their and clicks. My only suggestion is not to expect much in the early going.
I agree it would be ok to put up google ads now, but I think the question is will google approve an account. For that I agree with the first response, build the page out a bit and get some links and then apply.
Hello, Try to work this night writing a couple of more webpages, try to do around 20 pages Best regards, JAkomo
If you want to apply for Adsense with an (almost) guarantee of being accepted... and probably much faster too... create a blog on blogspot.com You'd only need to do a few posts. I had about 7, and was accepted in less that an hour of applying. Make sure the topic you choose is within TOS and that it least looks as if they might be able to serve relevant ads. Maybe a blog on writing? Once you have been accepted, you can put your code on any other acceptable site. Then work hard on building your site! The more useful pages you have, the more chances your visitors will have of seeing an ad of interest and clicking on it. Good luck!
Thank you all so much for your input. It is so nice to have a place to get information from more than one source. You guys ROCK! I will ad a few more pages and split up some of the text that is currently there. I wish I knew how to HTML a little better...lol...(I was proud of my email link). I am no webmaster( as you all can tell) but I wish I had studied longer in this field. When I graduated high school (1990), Windows was still in 3.0 mode (I think). Anyway, thanks again to all of you! Mary
if u apply rite now i can guarantee u will be disaprooved.there is literally nothing on ur site.Create more pages moreover ur jus selling articles on this site not publishing so i doubt google will even aproove a site liek this which is merely built to sell articles and not to publish them?? anyhow even if thts not true u def need more pages ur site looks empty right now but im sure u cann fill it up PS:also ur site looks unprofessionaly designed. Please change the look and choose a better pre-made template. That would work.
It will be good to build up a little more content, maybe have some links to other pages of your work...just to make it look a little more like a very content rich website. Although, I would have thought you would stand a good chance of getting approved even if you apply now.
I've taken all of your advice and made a few changes (all that I have time for right now) I have a few ideas that I am adding tonight as well including a blogger blog. Thanks for all of your help!
They will. I have recently made a website (www.whatsnownew.com) and i have only 3 pages at the moment, but i have google ads on the pages. Now, atleast i am prepared for when my website is fully done and i am making a tiny amount of revenue still. Hope that helps
That's a good point, I was going to suggest to Mary that if she already has an account, she could pop her ad scheme in and take a look at how it will appear and how to implement it. Mary, I think the site looks fantastic, It's sleek, in my opinion, now put some links up to some of your writing and pop that google search box on there someplace good luck to you.
I have never had an adsense account but I really really want one! I applied to adsense with another site (before I found DP) that I have but I have it all screwed up somehow. When I applied for my very first adsense account, they told me to apply again after I had fixed the broken links. So I sort of chucked it for the moment and started with a whole new domain, since I needed a portfolio of sorts as well. Joy-I have changed the look since my first post at the suggestion of other members. Thanks for your encouraging words about it. My question is: Will adsense approve me for an account with them if I submit this domain?
Not sure, but I think they will, the website I used to get my account was a general chat forum, which had like around 1000 posts and 12 members. Hehe. Spam forum.
