It just seems like they have had that tag on their for quite a while. With so many users using the service and loving it, why would they not release it fully and offer public sign-up instead of requiring invitations. Does anyone know if they plan on implementing huge new features into the interface?
In my opinion, It might be "Beta" forever. I wonder why they give us a huge space for free e-mail without any exchange. Only thing I think in their exchanged may be our "privacy" in data we sent/received via their mail. As I said, only my opinion.
A while I ago I read a statement from a Google official that they keep products/projects in Beta as long as they have a todo-list of new features to implement.
should be? They're still fighting with a company in the UK over the copyrights of the name GMail. I don't expect them to be out of 'beta' anytime soon until they resolve that.
Never heard that before, I mean we are talking about Google here shouldnt they have checked these kinds of stuff before deciding to promote it as "Gmail" or did something unexpected happen? Who knows
@ducelo: You need to find an existing gmail user and get him to invite you. PErhaps there are still also some websites out there that send out gmail invites, haven't checked that for a while. If you sticky me your email address I can send you an invite.
Gmail is always adding new stuffs (now these google chats, I don't find this useful), so I think it's not going to be out of beta so soon. And ya if anybody needs gmail invitation PM me I've got 93 left
Beta or Not - I like it. It's actually funny though how so many other companys are starting to release beta versions more plublicly where before it was for the "beta testing group".
I think there are still some bugs left in Gmail. Sometimes it gives out error, which is not IE error, something like system was busy or it performed an illegal operation. I think when they clear out all the bugs, they will get out of beta.
