Will G give PR and backlinks back?

    Hi,

There is a domain, once PR6, used for some time, and then dropped. Had a lot of backlinks, DMOZ listed. It's now PR0 and showing no backlinks. I'm wondering, if I put some content again, will G eventually give PR back and count those backlinks (a lot of links still exist for this domain)?

You deleted all content on a PR6 listed domain? Golly.

Yes, if you are quick about it, google will probably start taking the website seriously again if you put the content (or related new content) on again. If you don't use the website, and don't plan on updating it - why not put adsense on it for a bit of extra money?

Only if the backlinks are still there now, and the DMOZ listing, and stay there when the next PR update comes around.

Did you buy this domain? Was it unhosted for a while? Is it hosted now, and is at least the homepage cached?

    This is the story:
Once upon a time :) I noticed that one PR6 domain expired. It's not .com, it's one small country domain extension. I grab it, wanted to put some content and AdSense, however, I immediatelly find out that AdSense isn't allowed for that language. There was a hosting, with no content, just 'Coming soon' :) It still received even 1000 uniques daily, was very good ranked. I forgot about that domain. However, few days back, I noticed AdSense is now allowed for domain language and I want to try to do somthing with that domain. I checked, DMOZ is still there and a lot of links, just G doesn't show it for a backlinks and PR is 0.

Well, it's only few dozens bucks for a new hosting, I will give it a try to see what will happen.

It really depends on your back links if they are still there.

    Interesting .. :)
    Have you checked thoroughly that your backlinks still exist .. {not only DMOZ}

If they exist then i can hope after you'll put good relevant content to your majority anchor texts in backlinks .. you may get PR back.

--- but don't forget to report your experience :)

Wait, I didn't mean switch hosts, I meant was there a period of time where G would have thought that the site no longer existed?

And how long ago was it a PR6...?

2 years ago it was PR6.

I cheked backlinks this way: just entered sites url, find out sites where it's mentioned, and yes, all this sites have a link to my site, just G doesn't report it. I will take hosting, get a few new links, and wait.

backlinkwatch report it has 1387 backlinks (some from PR6 pages), probably a good sign ;)

Will give it a try, and will report here in a few months what happened...

No, it has lost everything. You will have to rebuild it back to PR6 - that ranking won't just magically come back. Sorry.

The domain sounds like it has not been hosted or was working, therefore G must have dropped it from their index. Put it onto a host and put some relevent content on. If the high PR links are still there, your domain should get some PR, maybe not back to PR 6 in the next update.

I promised I will inform you what will happen.

I take a hosting for this domain, and less then a month google webmasters tools shows 951 backlinks, and domain is on first page on google search for it's terms. I'm waiting for a toolbar update, but webmasters tools shows I have a high PR page on site.
